We had a brilliant weekend at Croydon’s Ambition Festival on the 25th and 26th of July. The Brick Box was commissioned by Croydon Council to explore how the previous car park outside Fairfield Halls could be transformed into a new outdoor hub for eating drinking and events.

We worked with local set designers to create a trailer park-themed bar and seating area and partnered with two very different South London-based projects to deliver a diverse line-up of arts activities. The Saturday programme featured a superhero themed arts festival produced in partnership with Maya Productions and featuring costume making, drama workshops, comic book drawing and live street art. On the Sunday we teamed up with Soca Picnic, who produce events inspired by Soca, the music of Caribbean carnival. The line up of Soca DJ’s, Steel Pan performances, Caribbean Food, picnic lawn and non stop dancing meant that we hardly noticed the rain.
